NRA SEALS OFF MineNet Company Over $1M Tax Liability

In its efforts to generate revenue, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has started clamping down on tax defaulters. The new leadership of the Authority is now on the streets, closing down defaulting institutions.
In view of that, through its Non-Tax Revenue (NTR) Department, NRA sealed off the office of MineNet Company Limited over outstanding tax liabilities of $1,000,000 as part of the Authority’s ongoing enforcement drive to ensure taxpayer compliance.
According to NRA, the enforcement action demonstrates NRA’s commitment to strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation and ensuring that businesses operating in Sierra Leone meet their statutory tax obligations.
They urged businesses and taxpayers to settle their outstanding liabilities promptly, noting that non-compliance with tax obligations may result in enforcement measures being taken in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
NRA revealed that these enforcement actions will be carried out on Ten (10) more businesses/Companies.
Early this week, NRA started the roll out of over 5,000 Smart GST Machines to strenghten GST collections and improving the electronic recording of business transactions.
