Two Remanded In Murder Matter

Police prosecutor, Inspector M. K. Taylor presented witness No. 2, inspector Edward Conteh, from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, in the ongoing murder trial.
Conteh testified that medical documents related to the deceased, Aminata, were submitted as evidence in the court.
Conteh described his visit to the crime scene with Sergeant Conteh H, where photos were taken and later identified the body at the morgue with the deceased’s brother.
He furthered that an autopsy was conducted on March 24th 2024 at the Connaught Hospital where other photos were taken and the cause of death certificate was handed over to Conteh.
That the first accused was interviewed on March 25th, 2024 and the second accused on 27th March 2024 and that both statements were recorded in English and admitted as true by the accused via thumbprints and submitted as evidence in court.
He said that the case file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice on April 16th, and that charges were brought against the accused on May 9th 2024 for Conspiracy to Murder under Section 4 of the Offence Against the Person Act of 1861.
The alleged Murder occurred on March 14th 2024 at West Brook Street in Freetown. Both accused were denied bail by Magistrate Sahr Kekura and remanded to the Male Correctional Centre. The matter was adjourned to the 9th August 2024.
