By Fatmata Mohamed Bangura
Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Pademba Road Court No. 1 has committed two accused persons Mohamed Sanu, a 59-year-old former ward coordinator, and Kelly Marrah, a 53-year-old pastor to stand trial before the High Court on a charge of misprision of treason, contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, on a date unknown between 26th November 2023 and 26th July 2025, in Freetown, the accused persons, knowing that treason had been committed by one Daniel Keleh Mansaray alias “Caesar” and other persons unknown, unlawfully concealed the commission of the said treason.
When the charge was read and explained to both accused persons, no plea was taken.
State Counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay Esq. informed the court that the prosecution had closed its case and that the file had been withdrawn for ruling.
Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that, having listened to the prosecution and carefully examined the evidence presented, he was satisfied that sufficient evidence had been adduced to put both defendants on trial before the High Court.
Consequently, the magistrate committed both accused to stand trial before the High Court and ordered that they be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown pending their appearance before the higher court.
