Tricycle Rider Fined for Traffic Offences

Abu Bakarr Foday Kamara has made another appearance before Magistrate Julia Mary Gbloh of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 5 in Freetown.
Kamara is facing three counts of bad parking, denial of offence, and riding without a driving license, contrary to Section 101 of the Road Traffic Act No. 5 of 2007.
According to the prosecution, on Monday, 27th October 2025, at about 11:00 a.m along Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, in the Judicial District of the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the accused, being the rider in control of an ATUL Tricycle with registration number AXP 511, made an unlawful u-turn, thereby causing obstruction to traffic, contrary to Regulation No. 10 of 2011.
On count two, riding a tricycle without reasonable consideration for other road users, contrary to Section 101 of the Road Traffic Act No. 5 of 2007.
On count three, failing to produce a valid driving license, contrary to Section 87(6) of the Road Traffic Act No. 5 of 2007.
Sergeant 5598 Koroma S, who procured the defendant’s appearance before the court, presented the charges, which were read and explained to the accused. Kamara pleaded guilty on all counts.
The prosecution proceeded with the facts as charged and tendered Exhibits A1–A2 in support of the case.
After considering the guilty plea and the facts presented, Magistrate Julia Mary Gbloh sentenced the defendant to pay a fine of Le 200 on each count, amounting to a total of Le 600, or in default, to serve one (1) month imprisonment.
