Teachers Union Asks For Backlog Payment …School Fees Subsidy

The Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) has written to the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) asking the Ministry to pay outstanding school fees subsidy.
This was made known by the Union in their letter dated 30th July 2024 noting that on the directive of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Union, they write to draw the attention of the Ministry to the non-payment of school fees subsidy for Third Term 2023/2024 school year.
The Union maintained that with the closure of schools, they are urging the Ministry to pay the outstanding school fees subsidy before the reopening of schools for the 2024/2025 school year.
“It is expected that school subsidy should always be paid before or at the commencement of every school term,” the Union stated.
That they look forward to the urgent payment of the backlog in order to ensure the smooth reopening of schools.
