Take Pride In Your Uniform …RSLAF Tells SLP

Following a cautionary statement from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has issued a strong directive instructing its personnel to desist from wearing military uniforms or fatigues, following concerns raised by the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
The administrative notice signed by CP Ismail Keita, Police Staff Officer at the Office of National Security (ONS) informed the police hierarchy of the growing misuse of military attire by individuals who are not members of the armed forces, including some police officers.
The directive warns that such practices not only undermine institutional identity but also risk creating confusion among the public. Officers have been encouraged to take pride in their official police uniforms and avoid actions that could bring embarrassment to the force or invite disciplinary measures.
“This directive should be treated with utmost importance,” the notice emphasized, adding that the police leadership is committed to ensuring discipline, professionalism, and respect for established codes of conduct.
The move comes amid wider discussions within the National Security Council Coordinating Group (NSCCG) about strengthening security sector discipline and inter-agency cooperation in Sierra Leone.
