Student & Security Remanded For Murder

Abdul Alpha Turay a student and Amara Sesay a security made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
According to charges both accused persons were charged to court on two Counts for allegedly killing Amara Mansaray contrary to Section 4 of the Offence Against the Person Act of 1861.
On count one, according to the charge sheet both accused persons on the 10th April 2024 at Coker Drive Off Regent Road Lumley in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to murder Amara Mansaray.
It was also alleged that on the above-mentioned date and place both accused persons murdered Amara Mansaray.
Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally led in prosecution witness number two Kojo Maxwell for further cross examination, and he identified himself as a Tiler, and on the last adjournment date, he did recall saying that he recognised the accused persons in the dock in respect of this matter and the now deceased as his best friend and did recall on Wednesday 10th April 2024, he was together with the now deceased around 5:00 am in the morning.
When the now deceased told him that he has Fence Sticks that he will wish to sell as he needed money.
That he left and later returned but he didn’t meet the now deceased and later heard noise inside the mosque and that he tried to enter the mosque but the gate was locked inside and he was not able to get in.
The Defense Lawyer D. Barrie further asked the witness if the witness saw both accused took the now deceased inside the mosque which had a close gate.
The Witness in his answer said that he was standing at one corner at the said mosque which look like a car park and he saw when the first accused was hitting the now deceased and that the second accused person took him out of the entrance of the Mosque and brought the now deceased by the restroom area of the Mosque.
After cross examination, Lawyer D. Barrie questioned the truthfulness of the witness testimony, saying that the witness is not telling the court the truth but the witness in his respond said that he is telling the court the fact and what he saw.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Sahr Kekura remanded the accused persons to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown and the matter was adjourned to the 22nd July 2024 for further hearing.
