Rocket Ball Begins a New Journey in Sierra Leone

Rocket Ball, a new sport created in 2002 by Dr. A. Gopala Krishnan of Tamil Nadu, India, is now beginning to attract interest in Sierra Leone.
The sport was originally created for his younger brother Satheesh, who had been affected by polio and later lost his ability to walk. The aim was to create a simple ball game that could be played in a limited space and help him remain active and confident.
After Satheesh passed away in 2017, the sport continued to develop with a wider vision of introducing Rocket Ball to people around the world.
In Sierra Leone, with the support and active involvement of Mr. Foday Sankoh, Rocket Ball is now gaining attention as part of the growing movement to introduce the sport across Africa.
In recognition of his valuable contribution in introducing and promoting Rocket Ball in many African countries, Mr. Foday Sankoh has been recognised by the International Rocket Ball Council (IRBC) as Rocket Ball Ambassador.
The International Rocket Ball Council (IRBC) is supporting the development of the sport by providing rules, technical guidance, training materials and equipment.
The aim is to train players, coaches and referees and gradually develop organised Rocket Ball activities in Sierra Leone and other African countries.
Sierra Leone is now part of the growing Rocket Ball journey in Africa.
