RCBank Hobnobs With Media Personalities

On Friday 16th January 2026 Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB) interacts with the Media at the Paradise City Lumley in Freetown.
Speaking at the event the Electronic Banking Person of Rokel Commercial Bank Victor Kanu, said that RCBANK has a classic debit Visa Card which is directly linked to their customers’ account. He said their E Banking Departments are looking at card less transactions and ATMs.
He said it is another fantastic service that customers can perform on the ATM without the use of a card.
He furthered that if customers want to send money to someone who does not have an account with RCBANK, they can easily send it to his or her phone via application and the person can use the code or reference number on the phone or they can go to the mobile ATM and withdraw cash without having an ATM.
He disclosed that all of these initiatives are now possible as a result of the vision of the Managing Director who is passionate to move away from the bits and malt of banking to something that can be done with just the click of a bottom.
He continued that ATM Service is very critical and they have the most ATMs in Sierra Leone with up to 35 ATMs across country.
The Marketing Manager of Rokel Commercial Bank, Madam Michaela Dorah Macauley, said that the Fourth Estate is very important to nation building.
She emphasized that as a Marketing Manager, her responsibility is to sell their products and services to customers, adding that it is not just selling out the products and services but for customers to also appreciate what they receive.
She said as a bank and a financial institution they partner with members of the press, and that the press’ responsibility is to ensure that they aid in the process of selling out products and services of Bank in a positive light.
The Sectary General of SLAJ Edward Marrah said SLAJ considers the relationship between the media and RCBANK as a strategic relationship.
He stated that over the years RCBANK with SLAJ have engaged in a working relationship and the current executive of SLAJ will continue with that direction.
He expressed appreciation on the contribution of RCBANK towards the development of the media in Sierra Leone.
He mentioned that MD Gilpin and his team are very supportive to SLAJ and have been one of their sponsors on SLAJ AGM and they are the one currently managing the IVerify platform, and RCBANK has contributed greatly to the media and has supported many Media institutions in Sierra Leone.
The Executive Sectary of Independent Media Commisson Khalil Kallon, said that the media and banking sector played a complimentary role in Sierra Leone society.
He said financial institutions depend on the media to communicate their services, innovations and contribute to the economic growth of the country noting that the media rely on credible information such as bank’s information that is accurate, news worthy and relevant to public interest.
The Managing Director of RCBANK, Dr. Gilpin, stated that as a bank they need to relate with media houses and also support the media.
He disclosed that he is looking forward to a good financial journalist who can educate the public on the on the principles of banking, financial literacy and management of funds.
He assured of RCB’s commitment to the media and thanked the media for honouring their invitation.
