President Bio Commends NASSIT For Consistent Reforms & Expansion of Services
On Friday 16th January 2026, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio Commissioned the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) District Office in Moyamba.
Commissioning the NASSIT district office which is expected to serve contributors and beneficiaries across the district and neighbouring communities, President Bio commended NASSIT for its consistent reforms, service delivery and service expansion nationwide.
President Bio affirmed that the establishment of the NASSIT Office reflects his government’s determination to bring essential public services closer to the people particularly workers in provinces and rural communities.
He noted that Social Security remains a corner stone of human capital development and mentioned that decentralization remains a key policy priority of his government.
He also encouraged NASSIT staff to uphold professionalism, transparency and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
In his welcome address, the Paramount Chief Kaiyamba Chiefdom, Moyamba District PC Foday Momoh Gulama said that they are grateful to the president noting that he has brought so many developments in Moyamba District.
He continued that the facility has brough relief to the suffering of pensioners who use to cover long distance from Shengeh to Bo and from Shengeh to Freetown to get their NASSIT payments which is also very costly for transportation. He thanked NASSIT for the initiative.
In her testimony, one of the pensioners of NASSIT, Rev. Jain Ngakoh Lahai, explained that she was a teacher who rose to the rank of a Head Teacher and that she served Sierra Leone for 42 years as a teacher and that with NASSIT, her retirement life is well planned.
She commended and thanked NASSIT Customer Service for their services to her and other pensioners disclosing that they are very good to them as pensioners and beneficiaries.
She concluded by calling on other people who are yet to join the NASSIT scheme to do so as it is good for their old age.
In his remarks, the Director General of NASSIT Mohamed Fuaad Daboh said that in 2021- 2022, President Maada Bio enquired as to when will NASSIT have offices in districts and chiefdoms as people are going through constrains to go to Freetown and Bo for their pensions, noting that as the answer to the construction of the NASSIT District office in Moyamba and more to be done.
The DG disclosed that Moyamba District is the first district decentralized.
He stated that the land housing the NASSIT district office is owned by government, and that the building is a property of NASSIT.
He thanked the Minister of Labour for working with him and for his good work towards the project.
The Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swarray said that they making efforts to ensure that the Social Security process is decentralized.
He said after Moyamba they will be going to other districts to commission, pin pointing that they will be in Port Loko to commission the regional office, and they are now moving, as it is the year of commissioning for NASSIT.
