PRA Suspends Applications On Gas Stations Construction …In Western Area & Freetown-Masiaka Highway
The Petroleum Regulatory Agency Sierra Leone (PRA-SL) has suspended new applications for the construction of Gas Stations in the Western Area and Freetown-Masiaka Highway.
This was made known in the Agency’s press release dated 19th August 2024 informing the public that the suspension has been made with immediate effect.
PRA maintained that the regulatory policy is aimed at preventing the proliferation of unauthorized gas stations that violate suitability guidelines, safety policies, and unfair trade practices.
“Consequently, all applications for the construction of gas stations in the specified areas will not be accepted by the Agency,” PRA stated.
They furthered that all unregistered gas stations under construction within the specified locations must cease operations immediately.
The Agency warned that any ongoing construction without the required approvals and permits will be considered illegal and will be met with appropriate enforcement actions.
“These directives also relate to all unregistered and unlicensed gas stations within the specified areas,” the release noted.
Construction firms, oil suppliers and dealers have been advised to cooperate with the directives or face the desired consequences.
