The Parliament of Sierra Leone has approved the Third Report of the Committee on Appointments and Public Service, confirming seven presidential nominees for key national institutions. Sowa (NDMA), Noah Mansaray (Shipping Agency), Abdul Manaf Kemokai (National Social Protection Authority), David Allen Amara (SLRA), and Gideon Gbappy (Shipping Agency Board).
Presenting the nominees, Majority Leader Hon. Sahr Mathew Nyuma noted that the candidates were thoroughly vetted, including their qualifications, experience, tax compliance, and vision for effective service. He emphasized that the report represented the unanimous agreement of the committee.
During the debate, MPs highlighted competence, national development, and service to citizens as key expectations for the approved nominees. Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma stressed that, appointees must work in the interest of Sierra Leone and deliver on their mandates, while urging attention to infrastructure challenges such as road construction.
Several MPs commended Dr. Susan Robert for her outstanding credentials and urged all nominees to prioritize effectiveness and institutional growth. Emphasis was placed on supporting NaCSA and enhancing disaster prevention efforts across the country, given Sierra Leone’s vulnerability to natural disasters.
Other MPs called for unity, improved oversight, and stronger collaboration between appointees and Parliament. They encouraged nominees to remain accessible, uphold professionalism, and contribute to national stability and progress through their various institutions.
Concluding the debate, Majority Leader Hon. Nyuma reaffirmed that, the nominees are competent and urged them to apply their expertise to strengthen state institutions.
