Parliament Enacts 2024 Education Commission Act

The Parliament of Sierra Leone has passed into law with some amendments, the Bill entitled: Tertiary Education Commission Act, 2024, for the development of Sierra Leone.
The Bill went through proper scrutiny by the Legislative Committee and the Committee of the Whole House before it was passed into law.
The Bill seeks to provide for the regulation of Tertiary Education Institutions throughout Sierra Leone and to provide for other related matters.
Presenting the Report of the Legislative Committee, the Chairman of the Legislative Committee, Hon. Abdul Sulaiman Marray-Conteh told Members of Parliament that the Bill was properly scrutinized, and assured the House that, the Report is the decision of the Committee members.
According to the Chairman, during the Legislative Committee’s meeting on the said Bill, professionals and experts were involved for the positioning of papers and proper scrutiny.
He added that, the contents, clauses, parts, functions, titles, responsibilities, tenure of office, and penalties were looked into and examined for the right purposes.
