Opposition Supporter escapes
By John Sankoh
Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a strong supporter of the current main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), is reported to have escaped after being targeted by armed security personnel, mainly the police, because of his alleged involvement in the November 26, 2024 failed coup against the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Government.
It is reported that because of the November 2024 coup, Jalloh became a target of frequent state security visits; and on one such visit to arrest him, he was not at his residence. And Jalloh has not returned to his residence up to the time of this paper going to press.
It could be recalled that Jalloh was harassed, and even arrested and locked up for the infamous August 10 violent protests in 2022.
According to reports, Jalloh was accused of being one of those out in the streets of Calaba Town in the east of Freetown mounting roadblocks and also attacking police officers.
After the August 10 protests, many arrests were made, and some people even losing their lives, when the police, together with armed soldiers, and even thugs known to support the ruling SLPP regime, raided communities in search of perceived August 10 protesters.
One of Jalloh’s neighbor, who begged for his name not to be published, said Jalloh had to run for his life out of fear for his safety.
