NPRA Signs MOU With NRA & SLMA …To Sustain Revenue Growth In Petroleum Industry

The National Petroleum Regulatory Authority has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Revenue Authority and the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration to maximize revenue collection. The event took place on Tuesday 15th April 2025 at the NRA’s Headquarters in Freetown.
The MOU will strengthen their relationship in order to maximize revenue collection and to cut down on petroleum revenue leakages on the sea and to sustain revenue growth for the petroleum industry.
In his statement, the Director General of NPRA Brima Baluwa Koroma said that the MOU between the three sister agencies will help to monitor and accelerate revenue collection across the board.
He continued that the Director General of the National Revenue Authority will coordinate the process.
DG Baluwa expressed gratitude to the other agencies for honouring his initiative, noting that the initiative will help to put an end to leakages in other agencies. He mentioned that there are potential revenue leakages in the maritime and that the collaboration among the agencies will solve that problem.
He revealed that there was personality conflict in term of roles in their daily operations, adding that every agency has a unique role to play in revenue collection in the country.
This MOU will put an end to the personality conflict we have been facing in our daily activities he noted.
Speaking to the press, a representative from the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration described the event as symbolic and that it will provide a pathway for rapid revenue collection.
He continued that the collaboration is essential to their collective drive adding that his institution has been working alone and urged all parties to put in their best in ensuring that they maximize revenue collection in Sierra Leone.
In her statement, the Director General of the National Revenue Authority Madam Jeneba Bangura said that the collaboration is the way forward and urged others to make appropriate use of the document for the interest of all.
She continued that the MOU fortified the relationship among the agencies and called on the public to always ask for the Goods and Services Tax receipt after every transaction.
She concluded that this will help them in revenue mobilization process in the country highlighting that revenue mobilization is pivotal to the revenue mobilization drive.
