Mechanic Remanded For Fraud

Mohamed Kabba Jalloh, a mechanic made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on a count charge of obtaining money by false pretences Contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
On count 2, Fraudulent Conversion Contrary to Section 20 (iv) of the Larceny Act 1916.
On count 3, Malicious Damage Contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.
According to the prosecution, that Mohamed Kabba Jalloh between 19th day of May, 2024 to 31st day of December 2024 at Wilkinson Road, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone received the sum of US$3,500 on behalf of the complainant for the purpose of replacing spare parts to her Black Ranger Rover 2021 Model HSEP 400 with VIN SALG82RU7MA438615 knowing same to be false.
When the charges were read to him in court, no plea was taken.
During the hearing, prosecution witness Manyallah Kallon, a business woman said that she knew the accused person through a friend who introduced him as a Motor Mechanic.
She said that after some days, the accused came to him at her house and they discussed about her vehicle and he told her that he will make time to watch the vehicle to know the actual problem and after some days in that same week, she said that the accused told her about the vehicle problem and requested that the problem of the vehicle cost US$2,000 and that the payment for his work is NLe4,500. She said that the money was given to him by her secretary.
She testified that after a week, she asked the accused person when she should be expecting her vehicle and that the accused person told her after two weeks.
She further explained that the two weeks has taken more than 9 months. She said that she tried to talk to his friend who introduced the accused person to her to talk to him concerning her vehicle but she said that his friend complained to her about the accused person’s misbehaviour towards him.
At this stage, the prosecution requested a short adjournment date to properly confer with the witness.
Magistrate Kekura denied the accused bail, and he was sent to the Male Facility Centre and adjourned the matter to 11th February 2025.
