Magistrate Braima Jah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 in Freetown has sentenced an unemployed man Ishmael Sesay to six months imprisonment after he was found guilty of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to police records, the incident occurred on 6th July 2025, at the Plant Yard, Fourah Bay College in Freetown where Sesay stole three pieces of eight-feet red-colored zinc sheets, each valued at Le 4,500, property of the management of Fourah Bay College.
In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, and therefore, Sesay was convicted as charged. The magistrate further noted that theft of institutional property hampers development and must be discouraged, hence the custodial sentence.
Sesay was accordingly sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of a fine.
