Man In Court For False Pretense

Twenty-Six years old Ansumana Serry unemployed made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and obtaining money by false pretense contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
That on Friday 5th July 2024 at John Michael Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit obtaining money by false pretenses.
On count two the accused person on the above date and place with intent to defraud obtained three Air Conditioners, 43 inches plasma TV, all to the total value of Twenty-Three Thousand Five Hundred Leones (NLe23,500) by falsely pretending that he have money to pay for the said items knowing same to be false.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused no plead was taken.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai sought for a short adjournment date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura granted the accused person bail in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Leones with one surety to be resident in the Western Area of Freetown.
That the surety should have a valid identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown, and that bail should be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar; the matter was adjourned to the 1st of August 2024.
