Man Dragged To Court For Fraudulent Conversion

Ibrahim Bangura, a security guard at Jones Street, has made another appearance before Magistrate Adama Kandeh of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.4.
The accused is standing trial on the count of Fraudulent Conversion, contrary to section 20(1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
Referencing the particulars of offence, the accused, on Saturday 2nd August 2025, at Jones Street Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property, that is to say a Blue Colour TVS King 300 Tricycle (Kehkeh) valued eighty thousand Leones (Le80,000) entrusted to Sallieu Barrie for the purpose of safe keeping, being property of Mohamed Deen.
Led in witness by A.I Bangura, Sallieu Barrie, testified in court that he recognized the accused person.
He said that the accused person was a security guard at Jones Street.
According to the witness the accused used to secure Kehkehs for which he is paid Le10 per day for each Kehkeh.
He did recall that on the 2nd August 2025, the complainant gave him the Kehkeh, Blue in colour with registration number AXG 958.
He said that he took the Kehkeh to the accused in order to park it for safe keeping.
That he was told by the accused to lock the head of the Kehkeh which he did and paid the Le10 to the accused person for that very day.
He furthered that when he went the next day to collect the Kehkeh, the accused said that the witness had collected the Kehkeh at 5:00am.
That he further asked the accused for the Kehkeh for the second time, but the answer was the same.
That he eventually called the complainant and told him about it.
The complainant came and took the accused to the Central Police Station and made statement.
The accused told the bench that the testimony of the witness is untrue. The accused was not represented.
Magistrate A. Kandeh sent the accused on remand and adjourned the matter to the 24th September 2025.
