Man disappears after Escaping Secret Society Initiation

Andrew Sesay has been reported missing after he escaped from a forceful initiation from members of the highly feared Poro secret society in North-western Sierra Leone- Port Loko District. A relative of Andrew, who does not want her name to be published, informed this medium that on 12th September 2022, Andrew left Masiaka Town with a friend, one Samuel Bangura, to visit Sorie Turay, a schoolmate of Andrew involved in an accident in a nearby village, Makoleh. She said when Samuel returned without Andrew, he explained to them that Andrew was captured by members of the feared secret society as they passed through a Poro Secret society bush on their way to Mawoma, where Sorie was taken for traditional medical purposes, adding that Andrew escaped from his Poro captors, a reason Poro members are searching for Andrew. She said Poro members are all over the place, still looking for Andrew, some vowing that because Andrew had entered their secret society bush, he should therefore be initiated; and that some Poro members are even threatening them that they would kill Andrew if they see him, a reason Andrew’s relatives should talk to Andrew to turn himself in for the initiation. As at press time, the whereabouts of Andrew is not known, or whether he is still alive.
