LICCSAL Celebrates 24 Year Of Existence

The LICCSAL Business College, on Friday 19th January 2024 celebrated its 24th year of existence at their LICCSAL Business College, Wilberforce campus in Freetown.

In his opening remarks, the Director of Academic Affairs, Dennis Sylvester Davies welcomed students and congratulated them for making it into LICCSAL.

He expressed hope that LICCSAL will continue to move from strength to strength and called on students to feel free and interact and create needed network(s) for their betterment and that of LICCSAL.

The Dean, Faculty of Business Administration Procurement and Journalism, Dr. Olubumi Ganu, welcomed everyone to the 24th Social Anniversary of LICCSAL and noted that the event was organized in order to create social network with current students, staff and members of the Alumni Association of LICCSAL.

He appealed to members of the Alumni Association to always give their support whenever they are called upon by the institution and added that the institution is now moving into becoming a university.

He advised new students to put up their best, and prioritize their studies, to ensure that they achieve their goal of coming to LICCSAL.
He also advised them to attend classes regularly, participate in class and to take all college procedures seriously, and that they should fulfill their financial obligations.

He called on them to feel free to interact with old students and members of the Administrative and Academic body.
A member of the Alumni Association, Mr. Williams, said that the purpose of the Alumni Association is for students to give back to their college.

He maintained that as a college, they are proud that Dr. Ezekiel Dramany-Kalvin Lakkoh who is the first graduate of the LICCSAL Business College is now the Dean of Accounting at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), and is now giving back to society.

He noted that they have already formed the association, and that Miss. Pricilla Randal who is the current General Manager of Vista Bank is the President of the alumni and that the Western Area Commissioner ECSL is the Vice President.

The principal of LICCSAL Business College madam, Cecilia Bangura, thanked everyone for gracing LICCSAL @24 and congratulated new students.

She asked for a moment of silence prayers for the founders of the LICCSAL Business College, late Rev. Victor Koni-Warne his wife Mrs. Marion Cheryl Memunatu Warne.

Madam Bangura noted that LICCSAL has gone through a lot but remains strong and have competed with other institution in the academic space and thank God that LICCSAL is still existing.

She disclosed that when the college was founded, it started on a free basis for parents who not afford to pay to send their children, noting that Dr. Lakkoh and others who attended the college at that time did not pay fees through the time of studying.

The Shareholder/Consultant of LICCSAL Business College, Dr. Ezekiel Duramany-Kalvin Lakkoh, who is also an Alumnus of the college emphasized that LICCSAL is older than UNIMTECH, UNIMAK, Limkokwing and IMATT College, and that LICCSAL is half the age of IPAM.

Dr. Lakkoh disclosed that next year, they will launch the Silver Jubilee of LICCSAL as it will be 25-year-old by then, and added that application will be made to get the institution to the status of a university.
He explained that the transformation of LICCSAL will be in three (3) phases: administratively, operationally and infrastructurally.

He furthered that for the administrative transformation, they have already initiated and taken action by establishing two faculties, which are: Faculty of Business Administration and Journalism, and also the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, and that they have ensured that there are Deans overseeing these faculties.

He maintained that this time around they want to make sure that the college is taken to the next level or stage of development. Cutting of the cake and hoisting of the flag climaxed the occasion.
