From Bo, Kenema, Makeni & Port Loko… Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally Ends Iftar Celebration With Spiritual Leaders in Freetown Today

Popular politician, businessman, philanthropist and flagbearer aspirant of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally will today celebrate Iftar (fast breaking) with spiritual leaders within the Islamic community in Freetown.
The celebration which kicked off in the Southern Province in Bo district, continued in Kenema in the East and Makeni in North-East Region and scheduled to be held in the North-Western Region in Port Loko with the grand iftar to take place today in Freetown.
In his address to imams from the various districts, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally maintained that the ceremony is very important and spiritual in nature as it brought together district, chiefdom and regional imams to celebrate together.
“This is a ceremony that I have established and I am promising you that it will continue forever by the special grace of Allah as long as I am in existence,” Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally assured.
He recognised the major role played by imams emphasing that service to the nation needs to be acknowledged, noting that as the reason he is recognising them key development players.
“As imams you sacrificed a lot in the path of Allah. You can be ill or going through family challenges but will find time to stand and lead the people in prayers. The service that you render needs recognition and it is that recognition that I am giving to you. I am doing this through the guidance of Allah,” he stated.
He said that countries that are worshiping God with sincerity are experiencing development today, and encouraged the imams to focus on such direction.
He maintained that it is only God who can direct Sierra Leone as a nation, adding that nobody has the knowledge to do that. He added that no PhD from Oxford can develop Sierra Leone disclosing that the country does not lack educated people neither the natural resource but that it lacks the guidance of Allah.
He discouraged the idea of giving support to people who are not Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan claiming to promote fasting just to score political gains.
He prayed for divine wisdom noting that if people are guided by Allah, they will always make the right decisions.
He emphasized that his decision to take care of the imams is guided by Allah and called on his colleague politicians to use religion for the right reasons.
In his statement, the National Secretary General of the United Council of Imams Alhaji Ibrahim Mans Kanu stated that the gathering is another historic moment as they are gathered for the love of Islam. He revealed that the Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally is a household name in the Islamic community in general and particularly in the United Council of Imams. He maintained that a friend indeed is a friend in need and that Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally is a friend indeed, adding that a time will come when they will explain everything about the great personality of Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally.
“At the United Council of Imams, we don’t associate ourselves with anyone compared to the way we do with Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally. I want to assure you that the cabal and associates of Alhaji Musa Tarawally are people of quality,” he affirmed.
He stated that the people around Alhaji Musa Tarawally are responsible stakeholders in their chiefdoms, districts and regions with strong followers who listen to them. He said that the Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally is qualified both qualitatively and quantitatively. He prayed for continued blessings of Hon. Musa Tarawally, and expressed thanks and appreciation to the Imams.
Speaking on behalf of the Districts Imams, Alhaji Ishiaka Sesay expressed thanks to Allah and extended thanks to Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally for his good work. He disclosed that they have known him for a very long time and know that anytime they meet with him they are going to smile. “Besides what he will be doing here today, he has been doing more for us,” he said.
He disclosed that before now, as imams they don’t have a source of living but that by the will of Allah through Alhaji Musa Tarawally, he brought an organization-Ummah Welfare Foundation which is paying us a stipend every month. He revealed that what they are receiving monthly is even more encouraging than what some government workers are receiving monthly.
