Born and raised in Freetown, Yeanor Esther Kabia embarked on her journalism career at Culture Radio 104.5, where she cultivated a deep-seated passion for storytelling.
Currently a distinguished reporter, presenter, and producer at Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, Yeanor plays a pivotal role in disseminating critical information on governance, democracy, human rights, and rule of law issues in Sierra Leone.
Beyond her journalistic prowess, Yeanor Kabia is a catalyst for change and empowerment in her community. She serves as the Outreach and Partnership Coordinator at Strong Girls Evolution, a leading organization dedicated to raising awareness about gender equality, leadership, career development, and essential skills building among young women.
Yeanor’s commitment to advancing journalism and advocating for fellow reporters is further exemplified by her candidacy for the Presidency of the Sierra Leone Reporters Union.

Yeanor plans to advocate for the welfare of reporters, organize capacity and mentorship programs, compile a proper database for reporters, organize recognition and awards ceremony, refurbish the SLRU Secretariat, exhibit transparency and accountability, introduce a mechanism for membership dues, and introduce a technology-based reporting system.
