Football Player Awaits Ruling On Phone Theft Matter

Twenty-nine-year-old Abdul Sesay, a football player, is currently awaiting sentence after being remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown for allegedly stealing a mobile phone at Magistrate Court No.1, Pademba Road.
According to court records, Sesay reportedly took a silver Samsung Galaxy A-15, valued at Le 12,000, belonging to court clerk Bakisa Massaquoi on 16th September 2025. He was later recognized by the arresting officer, Corporal 1298 Cecilia Thomas, when he attempted to sell a boot to her in disguise at the court. CCTV footage had previously captured his actions, and his photograph was circulated to the police.
The defendant was arraigned on a single count of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916. When the charge was read to him, he pleaded guilty.
The case was prosecuted by Inspector Mabel M. Tarawalie. Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah refused bail and ordered that Sesay remain in custody at the Male Correctional Facility and adjourned the matter to 6th October 2025 for ruling.
