Dr. Alfred Seawright Bids Farewell With: 7 Tractors, Garri Production Machine, Harvester, 10KVA Solar System & Dozens of AC

In a bid of saying farewell to Sierra Leone after years of free goodwill gestures to governments, communities in and out of it former mining operational areas, Dr. Alfred Seawright, popularly known as Salone Mandela has donated 7 tractors, Garri production machine, Harvester, 10kva solar system and dozens of AC to youths of different regions in Sierra Leone.
Dr. Alfred Seawright quest to promoting local communities in and out of his former operational areas, has been a footprint across Sierra Leone as residents of Njala, Gbense, Gorama Mende and Nimikoro Chiefdoms saw the installation and deliver of fish feed, extruding and hammer meals machines to boost farming in their region.
Past dedicated work of Dr. Seawright were among the beneficiaries.
Charles CR Yawor, Procurement Officer for Dr. Alfred Seawright farewell project explained that they have been giving reasons to Dr. Alfred Seawright on why it should do more.
He went on to say that Dr. Alfred Seawright started with some tractors for them but later they presented cassava production and rice farming to him as further assistance.
Charles explained further that this project was in three different categories, 15 women received $ 3,000 each from Dr. Alfred Seawright, other civil servants that have been working with Dr. Alfred Seawright got their package and the last set was the tractors and others items.
Ibrahim Suma, one of Dr. Alfred Seawright technical experts disclosed that the project started in November when Dr. Alfred Seawright left the shares of the mining company.
He disclosed further that, 7 tractors, 7 rice mill and cassava processing production and combined harvester and a full radio equipment for citizen radio Kono as a way of saying goodbye was part of the package.
“This was done by Dr. Alfred Seawright single handedly. The package was distributed by region and it is 100% free,” he said.
He spoke about the proper survey they did to ensure that the donated items serve it right purpose. He also thanked the government of Sierra Leone for giving them duty free waver.
Tamba Johnny commonly known as Koporque said they asked Dr. Alfred Seawright for support because they lost the mining company work and they never intend to work there again.
“I thought I was dreaming when the items came, because I lost hope. This is the first time we are getting such support from a mining company in the history of mining in Kono,” Tamba said.
He promised that the donated items will benefits not only him but the entire Gbense Chiefdom.
Dr. Matthew D. Kpundeh Team Lead for the Sustainable Integrated Aquaculture Research Actors (SIARA) 101 said the donated items from Dr. Alfred Seawright will help boost food security and enhance youth empowerment in Sierra Leone.
“We want to be very grateful and thankful to Dr. Seawright and his family for this initiative because now that we know Africa and Sierra Leone in particular, we are suffering and the issue of food insecurity is perpetuating all over the provinces and now that we have the government agenda for boosting food security in the country, this is the right time to work with our fellow youth to boost our food security and see how best we can improve our livelihood in our rural communities,” he said.
He further implored all those that have received the gesture to make very good use of them as by doing so, that they can be able to make the dream of Dr. Alfred Seawright for Sierra Leone and for the youth to come to reality.
Dr. Alfred Seawright founded Seawright Mining Company in 2013. Since then, he has invested in not only growing the company, but also in developing human capital in Sierra Leone.
Dr. Alfred Seawright also donated the sum of one billion old Leones to the
Government of Sierra Leone to eradicate COVID -19 in the Country among other projects in Sierra Leone.
