Don’t Look AT Our Petition As A Motion Against Government …PC Hon. Alhaji Musa Bamba Jalloh Urges Parliament
Lead Petitioner and Paramount Chief Member of Parliament Hon. Alhaji Musa Bamba Fulio Jalloh III has laid a public petition in the Well of Parliament.
The Petition which was signed by over 2,000 indigenes of Dansogoia, Diang and Sambaia Chiefdoms calls on the Parliament of Sierra Leone to accept the collective and unanimous agreement of the people with the Gento Group, to declare null and void Statutory Instrument No 11 of 2024 and to investigate the Sierra Leone Mines and Minerals Development Management Corporation (SLMMDMC).
“I urge this house not to view this as a motion against Government but as a concern of the people” he noted.
He said that the house must look at the petition with wisdom, fairness and urgency that the matter deserved.
The Kasafoni Land located in the three chiefdom is a subject of conflict and dispute and for which Government without consultation with the people have given legitimacy to the Sierra Leone Mines and Minerals Development Management Corporation.
The People have outrightly said that they were not contacted before that decision was made insisting that they have signed a lease agreement with the Gento Group.
They explained that Government should know that the land is their God given right and they should be part of any decision that will give their land away.
Meanwhile, SLMMDMC and the Mineral Wealth Fund claimed that they have signed an agreement with China Overseas Engineering Company Limited but most people believed it is another memorandum.
