Disability Commission Complains About Late Disbursement

During the hearing for the National Commission for Persons with Disability (NCPD) which was chaired by Hon. Rugiatu Rosie Kanu, Chairman for the Commission, Ambassador Dr. Vandy Konneh complained about a delay in disbursement.
He made this disclosure before the Parliamentary Committee of Supply during the sub budget appropriation hearing for budget approval.
Dr. Konneh said that their challenges are enormous despite their disability adding that they are also Sierra Leoneans.
“We are optimistic this time around the 14 million future budget will come on time, ” he said.
Honorable, Rugiatu Rosie Kanu raised concern about the number of women working in the Commission for Persons with Disability, noting that it should be gender inclusive from top to bottom management.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Honorable, Abdul Karim Kargbo quarried the Commission for not bringing documents to support some of their claims, like not receiving their budgeted amount for the Financial Year 2024 for clarification.
He emphasized the need for the Commission to raise more awareness against discrimination for people with disability.
