Cabinet Approves Banana Island Ports

Credible reports from Government of Sierra Leone have revealed the Government has approved the concession for the design, development and operationalization of a Transhipment Port at Banana Island, Yawri Bay and Kent to Gento Group of Companies.
The agreement also declassified the rocky island from the National Protected Area Authority for the development of the Ports.
The agreement will have to go through Parliament for ratification.
The port, according to experts will be the deepest port in West Africa with about 20-24 meter depth and that it will transform Sierra Leoneans economy and provide jobs for young people.
Experts believed that if Sierra Leone which is well positioned at the Atlantic Ocean was used for transshipment of slaves across Africa in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade to America and Europe, is now being used as a transshipment hub for businesses, it will transform Sierra Leone for good
That the fact that a Sierra Leonean Company with experience in construction is thinking about such is marvelous.
This port if constructed will be the deepest in Africa and will transform not only business in Sierra Leone but the economy and will also provide huge employment for Sierra Leoneans.
