Businessman Tenders CCTV Footage To Aid Police Investigation …Over Mysterious Death
A matter of mysterious death involving one Alie Thullah, a third-year student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) is being investigated by personnel attached to the Central Police Division in Freetown.
Thullah, also said to be a young technician, was discovered dead in the HBS H. BAYDON & SONS stores on Wilberforce Street in the Central Business District of Freetown, leading to a storm of a huge crowd of angry protesters thereat on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
However, reports about the circumstances surrounding the death of the young technician are mixed. A report alleges that his service was employed by the Business Manager, Mahei Baydon to install a Satcorn dish while fixing other electrical problems at their stores.
Reports furthered that Thullah worked at the stores the whole day long on Monday, September 30th, but the management allegedly locked the business house and went home only to surprisingly find him dead the following day.
Meanwhile, impeccable sources indicate the relationship between Mahei and Thullah had been very close and cordial, spanning years back with a lot of goodwill gestures said to have been rolled out for each other.
Working at SARTCON, Thullah had been the choice of Baydon in terms of professional technical works at the latter’s business establishment. On Monday, therefore, Baydon reportedly called on Thullah to fix the problems his satellite dish had incurred to enable them watch and become abreast with the lethal happenings in Lebanon.
Baydon has, meanwhile, tendered the CTV Camera to the police, and footages suggest upon arrival at the business establishment, Thullah was led to the ceilings’ manhole through which he climbed into the inner roof to do his technical work.
Baydon resettled to his office, confident that Thullah was doing his work. Hours without reporting back to him, Baydon called Thullah on the phone countlessly but he couldn’t collect the calls, leaving him to think that he had returned home. They locked the offices late in the evening and then retired home.
Going to the office on Tuesday morning, an Indian national whose office is close to where the roof’s manhole locates but who was absent the previous day started smelling an unusual odour within. He searched, searched and searched. Upon lifting his eyes up to the ceiling, he finally saw Thullah lying in the inner roof dead. He immediate dashed out to his boss, Mahei’s office in panic, but he was not in at that time of the morning. He then called him on the phone.
Mahei arrived with urgency, making way to the place. He wasted no time in calling the police to the scene. He also contacted SARTCON to notify them about the mysterious death of their member of staff, and then contacted the deceased family, who quickly responded.
When the sad news broke out to the students of IPAM, however, they hurriedly went to the scene with the desperation to set the business establishment ablaze. They further advanced to Mahei’s home to raise it down as they received the misleading news that he was murdered, all as a suitable revenge for their colleague’s demise, but for the stout intervention of the police.
At press time, it remained to be proven whether Alie Thullah was electrocuted or met his demise by other means, except gathering that his remains were at the Connaught Hospital awaiting autopsy to establish the cause of death.
