As Cyber Law Criminalizes Free Speech… Leone Rock Metal Group Uses Police To Intimidate Journalist

The Chinese Mining Company, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has made a criminal report against Journalist Thomas Dixon at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for what they described as Cyberbullying and Cyberstalking.
The letter of invitation dated 18th August 2025 was sent late evening to Thomas Dixon’s lawyer Sigismund Austin Conteh on Tuesday 19th August 2025.
The move made by the Chinese Mining Company Leone Rock Metal Group has been described by lawyers and media practitioners as a calculated ploy to stifle freedom of the press and intimidation of journalists.
In a letter dated 5th August 2025 addressed to the Chairman of the IMC Complaints Committee copying Thomas Dixon, Leone Rock Metal Group filed a formal complaint based on what the company described as gross defamatory and unethical publication on his X.com.
“On or about 31st July 2025, Mr. Thomas Dixon published a post on his publicly accessible social media platform, X.com, under the account name ‘thomasdixon,’ captioned: News Alert!!! Criminal Charges Filed Against Leone Rock and CEO Gilbert Zhao for Non-Payment of NASSIT for their Expatriates,” the company wrote.
The mining company made the complain after the New Age news alert publication dated 31st July 2025 followed by the personal tweet of Thomas Dixon.
The New Age reported a matter between Leone Rock Metal Group, its Chief Executive Officer Gilbert Zhao and the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT).
The matter was of public interest as criminal charges were filed against the mining company and its CEO for noncompliance. And the side of the company was captured based on the response of their Director of Human Resource Mohamed Dafae.
In his response to the letter of invitation sent to Thomas Dixon, ASP Kabba Lavalie confirmed that they receive a complaint against Thomas Dixon from Leone Rock on a case of Cyberbullying and Cyberstalking.
