Appointment Committee Vets 6 Presidential Nominees

The Parliamentary Committee on Appointment and Public Service, chaired by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, has interviewed six nominees appointed for various positions.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Nyuma welcomed the presidential nominees and the public. He explained that the essence of the Committee is to scrutinize, in order to ascertain the capability and competence of the nominees.
“The nominees will be asked questions relating to their various jobs and offices they will be occupying, the interview is centered on issues pertaining to their educational background, proven track records in pertinent work situations, and strict procedures, among others,” Hon. Nyuma said.
The Committee interviewed the following presidential nominees: Ambassador Mohamed Foday Yumkella, proposed Ambassador of Sierra Leone Embassy to Conakry Republic of Guinea; Dr. Abdul Rahim Jalloh, proposed Deputy Minister I, Ministry of Energy; Mr. John Sumailah. Chairman, Rokel Commercial Bank; Madam Mary Massah Katta, proposed Board Member, Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA); Mr.David Fortune proposed Board Member, Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion and Mr. Moses Tiffa Baio, proposed Chief Immigration Officer.
