One Santigie Kamara has made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on a count charge of Murder Contrary to Section 1 of the offence Against the Person Act 1861 repealed and replaced by section 1(a) to the schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No.6 of 2022.
According to the particular of offences on Sunday 19th January 2025 at 555 Lorry Park Waterloo Freetown Santigie Kamara murdered Francis Amara Kanneh.
Kadiatu Carew, a business woman recognized both the accused and the deceased as her son.
She recounted that on the 19th January 2025 she was at home sick when the accused came home around 6:30 pm, later she entered the house to rest after the arrival of the accused and that she later came out and ask her grandchildren what did the accused came to do but the children said they don’t know.
She later received a call from an unknown number who gave her information about the death of her son, but that she couldn’t do anything at that moment.
She told the court that she later called her elder brother Abu to enquire about the information in response, her brother told her that the corps had been taken to the mortuary.
She stated that later that day she went to the Ross Road Police Station where she made statement and some investigation team came to her house and interviewed her and later went to the mortuary together with the invitation team and the deceased body was handed over to her.
At the conclusion of her testimony, the matter was adjourned to the 14th March 2025 for further hearing.
