CDP Chairman Victor King Says Thugs Attacked His Vehicle in Bo, Implicates SLPP’s Jimmy Batilo Songa
Victor King, Chairman of the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP), says he survived an attack on his vehicle by thugs in Bo. King said he believes the attackers were working for Jimmy Batilo Songa, Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). “I will continue to speak the truth, and no form of intimidation will deter me from saying what is correct,” King said. “If the SLPP has a problem with Musa Tarawally, let them solve it,” King said
He also accused the Chairman of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) of interfering in the CDP’s internal affair, noting that he (Jimmy) is trying to use the opposition party in a political fight against Hon Alhaji Musa Tarawally. Speaking firmly, the CDP Chairman said he is “ready to defend” the claim. He said he once met the SLPP Chairman in person and told him plainly that he would not be part of the plan.
“Jimmy is the one interfering into CDP,” he said. “I am ready to defend it, because I have had a meeting with him once, but I told him I am not part of it.” He said the SLPP Chairman is trying to use the CDP to bring Musa down, and that his party will not be pulled into a dispute that has nothing to do with it. “If they have a problem with Musa, they should go and solve it,” he said. He stressed that Musa is not a CDP member, and that the SLPP should sort out any problem with him instead of dragging the CDP in,” Chariman King maintained These are serious claims for an opposition leader to make against the chairman of the ruling party. They raise new questions about how the ruling party deals with smaller political parties in Sierra Leone.
