Motorbike Rider Behind Bars For Fraud

Paul Koroma a motorbike rider made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on a count charge to wit fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 17th August 2025 at Sumaila Town the Western Area of Freetown fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is to say one Black Colour Bajaj Motorbike with registration number AUR 560 valued twelve thousand Leones (NLe12,000) entrusted to you by Nelson Bundu Bangura for the purpose of safe keeping said property of Nelson Bundu Bangura.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant no plea taken
Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K led in prosecution witness No. 1 Nelson Bundu Bangura a commercial motorbike rider he recalled that on the 17th August 2025 something transpired between himself and the defendant on the above date when the defendant met him at home and told him to assist him with a motorbike and that his neighbour Mr. John has a motorbike, he was looking for a rider. That he recommended the defendant to him, and Mr. John gave his motorbike to the defendant through him who recommended the defendant.
The witness said the defendant went with the motorbike and did not return with the motorbike for days and weeks and that the agreement was to run the motorbike on commercial basis and to pay one hundred and thirty Leones per day. That the defendant was later arrested by his brother who brought the defendant to him. That he enquired from the defendant for the motorbike but did not give him any good news about the bike so he reported the matter at the New England Police Station where statement was obtained from him and his witness he concluded. The witness was cross examined by the defendant.
Meanwhile Magistrate John refused bail and sent the defendant to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 9th October 2025.
