Man Remanded For Embezzling Over SLE70,000

30-year-old Abdul Razark Mansaray who is unemployed made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on a count of Embezzlement Contrary to Section 17 (1) (b) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particular of offence on Friday 22nd September 2024 at Babadorie Junction, Lumley in the Western Area of Freetown fraudulently embezzled the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Four Hundred and Twenty-Six Leones (77,426) received by him from James Fornah and Momoh Kamara of Abjatal Star Enterprise.
No plea was taken when the charge was read and explained to the accused person.
The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sorie Conteh, sought for a short adjournment date so that he could properly confer with his witness.
Counsel Representing the Accused person, E.T Lassayo Esq, applied for bail on behalf of the accused person, noting that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction and that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf, and that he will not interfere with prosecution witness nor will he jump bail.
He made his application pursuant to Section 79 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Santige Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown and the matter was adjourned to the 15th November for further hearing.
