Four individuals: 33-year-old Mohamed Kamara, Zainab Turay, Mohamed Kamara Zakaria Sankoh, and Abdul Samuel Kamara, have appeared once again before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and shop breaking and larceny, in violation of Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the prosecution, the accused, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Koroma Lane, Calaba Town, conspired with unknown persons broke into the shop of Fatmata Kamara and stole various items.
The stolen goods included four large jars of mayonnaise, twenty large bottles of cooking oil, five cartons of onga maggi, twenty-four cartons of sweet milk, and other assorted items, all valued at NLe 41,610.
When the charges were read, the accused did not enter a plea.
During the hearing, prosecution witness, Albert Sorie Kamara, an assistant secretary at the Ministry of Education, testified that he was asleep at home around 8:00 am when his mother woke him to sell rice to a customer.
That upon opening the shop, he found it ransacked, with the back window broken, an apparent entry point for the burglars.
He continued that while inside, a backpack filled with provisions was discovered, and when questioned, the first accused, Mohamed Kamara, claimed ownership of the bag.
At this stage, the prosecution requested for a short adjournment to properly confer with the witness, citing inconsistencies in his testimony.
Magistrate Kekura granted the request and adjourned the case to 6th February 2025, for further hearing.
Bail was extended for all accused persons.
