The Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Mohamed Orman Bangura has joined the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry (MAF) in their IFAD And Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (AVDP) to train 225 Youth Contractors on Oil Palm Nursery Establishment, Management and Out – Planting in the Permanent Filed.
In his statement, the Hon. Minister extend his thanks and appreciations to His Excellency the President for his commitment and dedication in the Agricultural sector.
He mentioned that Agriculture is President Bio’s second flagship program and therefore young people should take ownership.
A total of 258,000 young people stands to benefit from this laudable project. The project is gender sensitive and caters for 40% of women as beneficiaries including person’s with disability, the Minister maintained.
Beneficiaries will be receiving the sum of Le 500,000 as their monthly stipend, and that the program will be implemented in the 16 districts across the country.
Minister Orman remarked that the ownership and involvement of youth is critical to the success of any youth project.
