Food items estimated at the cost of millions of dollars will today arrive at the Lungi International Freetown Airport as good gesture to the Government of Sierra Leone from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government.
That the donation of 50 tons of assorted food items from the UAE to Sierra Leone is a sign of extending humanitarian assistance to the West African State during this Holy Month of Ramadan.
Reacting to the gesture, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, Rashid Sesay, thanked the UAE leadership for the goodwill and their continuous support to his country noting that that was a testament to the tremendous progress made over the years to strengthen the friendly relationship between Sierra Leone and the UAE.
The donated items; which included rice, cooking vegetable oil, flour among others; will depart Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE, today Tuesday 4th May via a special Etihad Cargo flight and is expected to arrive in Lungi International Airport tomorrow Wednesday 5th May.
It is worth noting that the UAE has been a supportive partner to the Government and people of Sierra Leone, especially in the areas of education, healthcare delivery and agriculture.
