The Management of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority – SLRSA has on Tuesday 9th October 2018, at a well attended ceremony unveiled Sheikh Bawoh and Ibrahim Sannoh as the new Chairman Board of Directors and Deputy Executive Director respectively at the Authority’s Headquarters in Freetown.
In his welcome address, the Director of Human Resource and Admin, Joseph Osman Dauda said management was pleased to unveil the new Chairman Board of Directors and Deputy Executive Director Sheikh M. Bawoh and Ibrahim Sannoh respectively.
Dauda Said the appointment of the new Board Chairman and Deputy Executive Director was a welcoming news and noted that, the management and staff of the Authority will work with them and ensure that the SLRSA achieve its mandate as stated by law.
Joseph O. Dauda referred to his bosses; Panda-Noah, Bawoh and Sannoh as ”FIFA Best 3″ and the best appointment so far in the history of the SLRSA.
“These 3 fine gentlemen are the best team ever to man the affairs of the Authority in history of the SLRSA,” Dauda maintained.
Sama Gamanga, Board Secretary and Acting Head of Licence in his statement, said Sheikh Bawoh is no stranger to SLRSA.
Gamanga said Sheikh has over the years been helping the Authority in promoting Road Safety. He noted that he (Bawoh) knows the ins and outs of SLRSA and he’s the best fitted man to steer the affairs of the SLRSA Board of Directors.
The Executive Director of SLRSA, David Panda-Noah, in his statement welcomed Mr. Bawoh and Ibrahim Sannoh to the SLRSA family.
Giving a brief overview of the mandate of the SLRSA, Panda-Noah said the SLRSA was established by an Act of Parliament to coordinate development in the transport sector and any other thing connected thereto.
“Efficient, effective and quality service delivery should be our watch word as an authority charged with the responsibility to ensure safety on our roads,’’ he said.
Panda-Noah stressed the need for integrity and commitment from all staff members in the executing their respective duties at all levels. He urged staff members to always put ‘Salone Fos’.
In his maiden address to management and staff of the SLRSA, the new Chairman Board of Directors Mr. Sheikh M. Bawoh called on management and staff to work as team to ensure that they will not only succeed as an authority but succeed as a nation.
Bawoh noted that his position as Board Chairman is political which means he was appointed to make sure that things are done in consonance with the traffic laws of Sierra Leone and that of the President’s Road Safety Agenda.
“Road Carnage Is Global Health Burden which can only be defeated with the concerted efforts of all sectors of society,” Bawoh maintains.
Reiterating that the core function of the SLRSA centers around ensuring safer vehicles and fuller lives, he urged staff members to translate the rousing welcome accorded to him into positive strides.
He assured that he would execute his duties as board chairman with the best of his abilities.
Ibrahim Sannoh, Deputy Executive Director said his appointment was not by mistake and that he was willing and ready to serve the people of Sierra Leone under the leadership of H. E Julius Maada Bio.
Speaking on staff welfare, Sannoh said he would work with the Board Chairman and his immediate Boss Panda-Noah to ensure that staff welfare and conditions of service are looked into.
The event was climaxed with the inspection of Guard of Honor Parade by the chairman Board of Directors and parade was led by parade commander Senior Road Marshall 117 Lans Bissirie Barrie.
