Fingers have been pointed at the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) to have fraudulently recruited the National Project Coordinator of the Sierra Leone Free Education Project.

This was made known by the Executive Director of Heal Salone, Joseph Abass Sannoh who maintained that the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), David M. Sengeh displayed nepotism at the ministry by making sure that his brother-in-law, one Mr. Ambrose T. Sesay filled the position.

Making this disclosure, Sannoh stated that it is the vision of President Bio to see that education is improved on as one of his manifesto commitments which brought about the formation of the Free Quality Education Flagship program, that the President cannot be everywhere to monitor activities, which is the reason he depends on genuine civil society activities and the media to expose wrongs within his administration.

That he had series of meetings with Sengeh dating back early January of 2020 and also met with relevant stakeholders within the sector just to see that the decision was reversed in order to do the right thing, but that the Minister remains adamant.

That the recruitment process which led to the appointment of Ambrose T. Sesay has been condemned by other top officials within the President Bio led administration which he has evidence of.

That those who applied together with Ambrose T. Sesay were not given equal opportunity to compete for the position because they are not relatives or friends of ministers, permanent secretaries, senior directors among others.

That there are series of abnormal issues with the employed school inspectors by the ministry and also issues with the Free Quality Education which he said he will soon bring out to the public.

That even though Sesay did not meet the qualifications for the position, he was given the job and those who are qualified were marginalized simply because he (Sesay) is an in-law to the minister.

That the shortlisting and interview process for the appointment in question was a complete sham that was manipulated by senior personnel in the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) together with the minister.

Efforts made to reach the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) by the New Age proved fruitless.
