The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Thursday 3rd June 2021 officially turned Sod for the construction of the North -West Regional office of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) at the Lungi Road Port Loko.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security who also plays the role of chairman at the program, Dr. Alpha Timbo, said that he felt honored to be the chairman of the turning of the Sod for the construction of the regional office for the North-West Regional NASSIT Office.
He furthered that NASSIT decided to do excellent Job, and that the first instruction that NASSIT received from the Minister was to make sure that to operationalize the scheme, they should have a place to sit and carry out their functions, noting that they started it in the Bank of Sierra Leone and temporary occupied the downstairs at Guma Building.
He continued that upon they extension to the Districts and Regions, they decided to rent some houses, but that they were instructed not to take more than two years on any rented place and should start to construct their own buildings.
In his welcome address the Regent Chief of Bankeh Loko Chiefdom, Chief Foday Santigie Kanu stated that, the people of Port Loko are excited.
He noted that their constraints will soon be a thing of the past since NASSIT is now on the process of constructing office structure in Port Loko Town.
The Director General of National Social Security and Insurance Trust, Mohamed Fuad Daboh maintained that pensioners expressed thanks to President Julius Maada Bio for the increment in their pensions, and that no government pensioner is receiving less than Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (250,000) monthly.
He continued that the proposed new office construction in town of Port Loko will be the most modern architectural infrastructure in the provinces.
He furthered that he will make sure that the NASSIT Office in Port Loko be the best of all the regional offices.
He concluded that as Local content policy is part of the procedures and processers of NASSIT, and also the NASSIT scheme, they hired Leone Construction Company a local contractor after the competitive bidding process.
In his Keynote address the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh disclosed that as a government they have added about ten thousand NASSIT Scheme contributions (10,000) with the employment of public sector workers.
He stated that all the workers in the North West will be happy for the proposed establishment office as it would help to save cost and time going to Freetown to access NASSIT Services.
He stated that the people of Port Loko are ready to provide Security to the project and embrace any development which will improve their lives, noting that President Bio has promised during his last visit to Port Loko to make it a new city equal in opportunity to the other three regional Headquarters in the country.
VP Juldeh assured the people of Port Loko that he will be supervising the project for a successful completion of the NASSIT Office.
