Mercury International Sierra Leone has boosted the fight against COVID-19 with Le500M support to the Government of Sierra Leone.

According to a Press Release from the Sports Betting and Lottery Company, this is in line with their corporate social responsibility.

That the money was transferred to the COVID-19 account at the Bank of Sierra Leone and that the amount is in addition to the already 50M provided for  the production of customized masks for various poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups  including market women and motorcycle (Okada) riders.

“In as mush as we have lost business due to cancellation of various leagues around Europe, we have tried our best to keep our staff on fulltime basis and have ensured that payments to all our staff, customers and suppliers are made in full. We have dug deep to get this money together to make this contribution. The Board of Directors feels that this is a fight that requires all Sierra Leoneans to come together,” Managing Director, Martin Michael stated.

It could be recalled that during the Ebola in  Sierra Leone the company made similar support to the fight against Ebola in 2015.
