In a bid to address the issue of money spent on none- existing civil and public servants as monthly salaries, the Government of Sierra Leone has said it is ready to tackle the issue head long.
That is why the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) has requested the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) to undertake a nationwide biometric verification exercise of all government employees.
According to the Director General of NCRA, Mohamed M. Massaquio, the exercise will involve verification of all government workers who were registered during the Mass Civil Registration exercise to verify or confirm their details with the Authority by 17 September; registration of workers who for other reason’s did not register at the time and update of other information collected from HRMO.
He disclosed that the exercise will commence from the 10th through 24th September 2018 from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily at all District Councils Hall and other centers to be announced by NCRA for that purpose.
He therefore urged all civil servants who fall under this category to come with their Voter ID Cards, receipt of registration done during the Mass Civil Registration phase, National ID Cards, Sierra Leone passport, appointment letters, NASSIT ID and Birth Certificates among others.
Massaquoi maintained that the purpose of the exercise is to stop wastages, reduce and /or eliminate ghost workers, clean and sanitize government payroll to promote good governance and enhance accountability and transparency.
