A release from the government through the Ministry of Finance indicated that government has paid the sum of Le51,433,930,000 as tuition fees for 2,139,562 pupils in pre-primary, primary, junior and senior secondary in government and government assisted schools for the second term of 2021/2021 academic year.

The release from government noted that the payment is being made in support of the government Free Quality Education Flagship Programme.

That the announcement is being made by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education for the attention of the general public.

“The general public is also informed that these payments have been made directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary schools based on approved school list and enrolment data submitted by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE),” the release sated. 

The sum of Le414,170,000 was paid to 360 pre-primary schools, Le14,125,800,000 was paid to 4,985 primary schools, Le21,199,700,000 was paid to junior secondary schools (JSS) and Le15,694,260,000 was paid to 433 senior secondary schools (SSS) accounting for the total sum of Le51,433,930,000 paid to 6,965 schools.

Government assured that it is committed to the full implementation of its Free Quality Education Programme.
