President Julius Maada Bio has appointed former Head of Sierra Leone’s Contingent in Darfur, Major General Sullay Ibrahim Sesay as the Chief of Defense Staff.
His appointment came late Wednesday evening to replace Lieutenant General Brima Bureh Sesay who has reached the statutory 55yrs age of retirement in the military.
Before his appointment as Army Chief of Staff, Major General Sullay Ibrahim Sesay was the Joint Force Commander of the Army in Sierra Leone.
In 2012, he was the National Contingent Commander of Sierra Leone Peace Support Operation in Sudan.
Report says like almost all officer cadets in the Military, Major General Sullay Ibrahim Sesay joined the force directly from secondary school but now holds a Degree in Economics as well as two master’s degrees in Strategic Studies.
That he is an indigene of Port Loko district where he attended the St Andrews Primary School before attending high school in Freetown.
That he has held several senior positions in the army and has exhibited proficiency and professionalism throughout his exemplary military career.
On the other hand, Brigadier General Peter K Lavahun is now the new Joint Force Commander.
Reports continued that Major General Sullay I Sesay will soon be promoted to Lieutenant General while Brigadier General Peter K Lavahun will be promoted to Major General.
