Mass Communication Department, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone has opened a book of condolence for the late Media Scholar, Professor Ritchard T M’bayo.
The event took place at the Lawrence Kamara Hall, Fourah Bay College on Wednesday 19th August.
Before his demise, Prof Ritchard M’bayo was former Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies and Lecturer at the Mass Communication Department, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone
Prof M’bayo has lectured in United States of America and Nigeria and has contributed to scholarly works in the media.
In his tribute, Prof Lawrence Kamara, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College explained that the late Professor was a leader as he would normally bend down to lift others which according to him (Lawrence Kamara) was demonstrated in his (Late Prof M’bayo) short time at Fourah Bay College by making a history of graduating 5 PhD scholars.
Representing the Registrar, Dr Tonya Musa said that the University mourns the death of Prof M’bayo as the late man was determined for which he accomplished most of his commitments.
He mentioned that he created a platform for intellectual conversation in the media, noting that he reviewed the Mass Communication Syllabi, which is serving as a model for other institutions.
The Head of Mass Communication Department, Dr. Williette James said that Prof thought for pro-bono at the university before he (Late Prof M’bayo) was enrolled into the teaching staff and helped the department in many ways.
“He spent 4-5 yrs with us and changed many things around us,” Dr. Isaac Massaqoui, lecturer at the Mass Communication Department said.
The Head of Institute of Library, Information and Communication Science (INSLIC) and students also expressed kind sentiments of the late Prof Ritchard T M’bayo.
Signing of the book of condolence climaxed the event.
