The current Minister of Agriculture, Dennis Vandy who was the Permanent Secretary (PS) at the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, (MEST) in the past administration of former President Koroma of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party has been found wanting of corruption and embezzlement of state funds.

This was revealed by the recently released government White Paper after the Commissions of Inquiry (COI) which was looking into past activities of the former regime.

The government White Paper maintained that the Education Ministry was the most recklessly managed ministry which was run as a cartel and criminal enterprise by the then Minister of Education, Dr. Minkailu Bah and his collaborators of which Dennis Sandy is one of them.

The report indicated that Dennis Vandy and others misappropriated the sum of US $23,000,000 which was earmarked for the revitalization of education development and remained unaccounted for.

That they (Vandy) and others contravened the Section 73 (1) and (3) of Financial Management Regulations of 2007 by withdrawing over Nine Billion Leones (Le9,000,000,000) from the Imprest Account to purchase office items and equipment without vouchers, receipts and delivery notes.

That they also expended the sum of Thirty-Four Million Dollars (US $34,000, 000) for the construction of technical and vocational institutions and School Feeding program without supporting documents.
