Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cresmet Brokers, Gladys Strasser-King has been recognized and celebrated by African Insurance Organization (AIO) as one of the trailblazers in the business of insurance in Africa.

She was also prominently featured in a special book featuring women in insurance in Africa who are trailblazers.

The event which was the African Insurance Organization (AIO) Annual Conference took place at Johannesburg, South Africa form the 8th-13th June 2019 and was witnessed by more than 1,100 delegates from Africa, Europe and Americas.

A number of educative papers were presented during the six (6) days conference after the opening of the conference, in which Women in Insurance In Africa made their presentation.

Each launcher at the programme gave a good tribute to the women trailblazers in Insurance in Africa and for Sierra Leone, Gladys Strasser-King received an outstanding tribute as featured in the book that was launched.

The Commissioner of Insurance in Africa, Arthur Yaskey, congratulated Strasser-King for her special recognition.

Yaskey stated that Africa Insurance are very proud of Strasser-King and hoped that she will continue to contribute to the growth of the industry in Sierra Leone by mentoring especially young women adopting insurance as a career.

Gladys Strasser-King is the first Sierra Leonean female who is qualified in insurance and joined the Insurance Industry in 1974 as Personnel Manager, National Insurance Company.

She returned to the UK in 1985 and pursued several academic and professional courses and attained the highest qualification, Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) (Chartered Insurance Institute, London); PG Dip. Insurance Studies & Management (University of Nottingham and City University), Chartered Insurance Broker (Chartered Insurance Institute, London).

In 1988, she set up an insurance brokerage firm, Cresmet Brokers & Business Consultants and is the Managing Director, which is today the largest insurance brokerage firm in Sierra Leone.

She has over Forty-Five (45) years of experience in the insurance industry.

Gladys Strasser King was also the Chairman, Board of  Directors, Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), first Female Board Chairman of United Bank of Africa in Sierra Leone and the first woman President of the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce.
