SLRSA expands mobile licensing services, warns against unauthorised fees
The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has increased its mobile licensing stations to three to improve access to services and facilitate the timely renewal of vehicle licences.
In a public notice, the authority encouraged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to use the mobile stations to renew licences for their vehicle fleets, saying the service attracts no additional charges.
Official fees for vehicle and driver’s licence renewals will be prominently displayed on the doors of each mobile station to promote transparency and help customers verify the amounts they are required to pay.
The SLRSA also warned the public against paying individuals who claim they can expedite licensing transactions. “There is no such thing as an emergency fee or facilitation fee for its licensing services,” the authority stated.
It advised customers seeking assistance at SLRSA offices to deal only with staff wearing official uniforms and displaying valid identification cards.
The authority said the expansion forms part of its efforts to combat licensing fraud, strengthen accountability and ensure payments are made through authorised channels.
Members of the public can send enquiries about tariffs, feedback and complaints through the authority’s automated WhatsApp service on +232 30 844 844. Official complaints should be directed to +232 80 879 753.
For further enquiries and verification, customers can call the toll-free number 844 on Africell or Orange. The notice did not specify the mobile stations’ deployment locations or operating schedules.
