Preacher declared Wanted by the Police

By Alfred G. Fofana
Apostle Sylvanus Lesley Mbawova, who was granted bail by the police after he was arrested for anti-government preaching, has disappeared. According to reports, he was granted bail at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown on condition that he was to report every day at the CID. It could be recalled that Apostle Mbawova, a senior preacher at the Abide in Christ Evangelistic Ministry International located at 59A George Brook, via Don Bosco- Dwarzack in Freetown, was arrested on June 6, 2026 for preaching a ‘politically motivated inciting sermon,’ opposing the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Government.
A Church member, who pleaded for anonymity, disclosed to this medium that Apostle Mbawova was beaten and threatened with death, police officers also threatening to burn down his church if he continues preaching sermons deemed inflammatory and threatening the peace. She said Apostle Mbawova has been branded a supporter of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) by some people who think his sermons are politically motivated.
As at press time, this medium does not know where the ‘runaway’ pastor is; and the police are still looking for him.
